Favorite moments of Zoe-Richie sibling closeness? |
Lead | |
|
Something I've been thinking about while hoping VE returns someday. The scary dream Richie had about making his own sudden transition still cracks me up because of the "show 'em what Carter girls are made of" line... of course, that was just imaginary, but it did lead to them genuinely enjoying a video game together.

Man, Jenn, don't you hate it when someone attributes your work to someone else?

I didn't say that. That's all Erin's work. Not mine.

wait...did Jenn draw that? That definitely looks like Erin's style. Was it Jenn's idea that Erin drew?

So now I know where I caught my cold from, you FIEND Dolari !
My fav Zoe/Richie moments are all the name-calling and points of contention. You know, where they actually act like siblings. ___

I like Richie. Reminds me of...well, me. I mean, my sister wasn't a trans, and neither am I, but I did feel like I was getting the short end of the stick,
so to speak, till my parents divorced. Funny how a mother's attempts at driving authority down your throat will destroy any respect you might have for
authority at all...
And yes, I would have given very similar responses to the psychologist, when she tried to psychoanalyze me, and to Zoe, when she was being all emo. Item #1: Honestly, Doc, show me a little respect. The primary reason I'm a dick is because it's the only way I can manage a shred of self respect as a self-sufficient individual in the making, while simultaneously keeping the world out of business to the extent that I can arrange it in a presentable light on the rare occasions that they can see it, because we all know how idiotic large groups of people like to (ramble....) Item #2: Normal? Trust me, normal doesn't exist, and if it does, it's a damn low standard. No one is going to be normal, or wants to be, or should want to be. Especially you. Otherwise...insane, right? Idiot. |

For unabashed moments of sibling closeness, there can be only one...
http://venusenvy.comicgenesis.com/d/20030521.html Honestly, I think that this strip is one of the best that Erin has ever produced. I love the layout, I love the dialogue, and I adore the raw emotion that spews from Richie's lips. This is why I think of Erin as the greatest webcomic artist; her ability to create characters that seem to leap from the screen and contort hearts with artless grace denotes an expertise few others can master. When I can empathize with a viewpoint in total opposition to my own feelings, and do so through the medium of a comic strip, I feel more than awe; I am left breathless. Even now, after all these years, I can't read this strip without shuddering a little. Still love it. Always will.
The evil that is in the world always comes of ignorance, and good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence, if they lack understanding. There can be no true goodness nor true love without the utmost clear-sightedness.
